I think I stopped reading at the second sentence- sorry was in a rush.

I was 2 days from moving to SF from NYC last fall. Non-refundable plane ticket and all. But I learned a lot:

Cost of living is very comparable, but roommate situations seem better in SF.

Sports? If you're that much of a sports fan, you know the deal. J/K, but there's a good vibe at SF Giants games...though there's only one yankee stadium. 49ers/Giants = similar. If you're the sporty type, there's plenty going on in SF, much more than NYC, I'd imagine.

Air should be considerably cleaner in SF.... Often foggy, but marine layer usually burns off. Avg. temperature is 56F and usually doesn't go over 78F in the dead of summer or something like that. Not what I'd have expected. It's pleasant year round, except for the rainy season, when everyone sips merlot and finds a lover.

Arts, music, nightlife--tons to do in SF, very cultural place with its many distinctive neighborhoods and cultural diversity. Outdoor living/lifestyle and people who live there swear by the place.

Ultimately, I decided to wait on my move to California. Wound up liking Hermosa Beach waaaay more but I'm looking for a beachy life for a bit. Cheers!

Some of this stuff might be off...just the overview I got from varied sources. Good luck! GET GOIN!!!
