  i lived in portland for 6 years, if you are not used to the rain get ready for depression city, there is nothing more uplifting than having a grey ceiling of clouds over your head all year, i had to get out, it is a beautiful place but i found it to be really depressing after awhile and a lot of the people are very mopey. my 2 cents. if you go make sure and stop by ozone records (up the street from powells) and also get some escape from ny pizza. werd.
