Obviously haven't found the right girl. Surprisingly hard to find someone willing to get involved in a committed relationship than just hookin up with people.
Besides i think the whole "asshole" debate comes down to girls liking guys who are self-assured and confident. Something to do with primitive instincts and/or what freud said about father /daughter relationships. Alot of asshole guys happen to be self-assured and confident. No girl's gonna go for some dorky wuss - no matter how "nice" he is.
