If you're really keen on a particular job and the advert doesn't say "Absolutely No Phone Calls" - try this:

1: Ring the company and ask to speak to the HR person or whomever is in charge of recruiting for the magic position. Then ask to confirm the fax number/email address, job details, etc...

2: Start chatting about the company - try and force them to do a little pre-interview with you, but play it cool - don't be pushy or desperate.

3: Follow up and send that CV in.

You'd be surprised at how just a simple phone call will help them remember you and also show you're not just someone sending a CV in for the hell of it.

    You never know...

    Oh and..

    Call once.
    Don't call them at home.
    Be polite.
    Don't waffle.
    Follow directions CAREFULLY.

Also - for your 1st interview - always arrive half an hour early and figure out EXACTLY where it is you need to go. That way you can just stroll in ON TIME without freaking out because you can't find the street/building/parking/office, etc...

    Good Luck!
