the Thatcher years weren't all that though either were they? Or Major for that matter.
I'm not a huge labour supporter either dont get me wrong but I think its far from fair to blame the condition on the recent labour govt, its an old school mentality, mismanagement and severe lack of investment over a long period of conservative rule that is largely to blame. That coupled with a serious problem with parenting, education and a disenchanted and uninterested youth that is seemingly spiralling things out of control.
There is a problem with the creation of underclasses and a growing rift between the rich and the poor which I believe is largely labours fault, its about time we saw a shift from placing huge importance on benefits for business and a little more of the worker/family orientated mentality, I'm sick of the 'good for business' rhetoric.
I believe there is also a huge morale problem caused by irresponsible, hatred breeding media which seems hell bent on perpetuating xenophobia, racism, classism and pretty much any other ism you would care to name, its also about time people there was a popular culture change away from dumbing down and lad culture etc and more emphasis laid upon culture/art/education and anything that is progressive rather than the mind-numbing drivel the masses seem to suck up non-stop.
end rant.
