    I've been doing this same thing for months now.. I've basically made up my mind to go with a centrino for the reasons already mentioned.
    -battery life
    -portability (much lighter usually)
    -integrated wifi
    -quieter (doesn't need 18 fans like p4)

    I actually ordered the dell d500 a few months ago and loved it.. except for the raunchy 1024x768 resolution and the fact that the materials seems flimsy and cheap. I sent it back.
    So I'm eyeing the d600 right now since I can get SXGA+ for a nice like $1300 or so.

    anyone see anything better? centrino w/ SXGA+
    dell seems fragile
