you should describe what kind of situation you and your wife would like to live in. theres a lot of different things LA county has to offer.

you could go to the valley or to pasadena and live in a very family oriented neighborhood and possibly rent a house for 2500 a month. or, you can do the beach living thing and get a small 2 bedroom in santa monica for around 15-1700 a month. or, if you dont mind being jammed up, you can live in a one bedroom for a little less.

some people really like hollywood and the busy city life. you can find some good deals in bigger apartment buildings around west LA and Hollywood.

If you happen to find a job further south, you could live in the artsy part of long beach which is actually pretty cool and 45 minutes from LA.

i have some friends that swear to god that los feliz, silverlake and echo park are the best places ever. they're cities coming up. lots of artists and art studios. but, i think some parts are still to gnar to have your lady walking around at night.

some things to think about. i think theyres two kinds of los angelinos, west siders (more into living near beach) and east siders (more into living more 'city'). i think everyone ends up being one or the other after being here for a bit.
