sounds like you may want to look into the loft district downtown.
the places are rad, and there are tons of artists.
i live in echo park (close to downtown), and i think that it is great.
i commute to the san gabe valley(25 miles ) and it is a breeze.
the nice thing about living in the city, is that you are always going against traffic.
i feel bad for all of the suckas that live in the valley and drive 2 hours each day to work downtown. it isnt worth it, (especially since the valley blows ass)
