Decided within three weeks to pack up my life and move from Dallas TX to Chicago with a good friend of mine who was coming here by himself.
No job, no prospects, just finished college a few months before, May 2001.
We actually packed on September 11th, so it was a very surreal time to move to a city the size of Chicago.I had no answers, and had as many family members pulling for me to succeed as I did people who were just waiting for the bottom to fall out and see me tuck my tail and run back home.
Times were tough at first, but I knew there was light at the end of the tunnel, and I have no regrets about moving here. It was the best thing I've ever done in my life I think.
I met a wonderful girlfriend here who I've been with for 1 1/2 years, I've been playing music solo, I've got a band now and we're getting close to "go time" with getting shows in town, I've made great friends here, I have a good job, and I'm glad to call Chicago home now.
