Left pretty much everything on a moments notice (a steady relationship, well paying job, friends, family, etc...) in NYC for a crazy web position in London. Figured I'd be there for 9 months max and then ended up there for 5 years, never once returning to the US in all that time. Now am looking to do the same in New Zealand.
Two quick thoughts:
1: Unless I see evidence to the contrary, you only live once, so make the most of it while you're here.
2: The really BIG things in life never happen when you want them to or when you're looking for them. They always sneak up on you and smack you in the arse when you least expect it.
3: No matter how daunting, big changes are almost ALWAYS worth the risk.
