Realistically I think you want blue if you expect them to buy.
But if you just want them to stay longer you need:
Colors that are not too contrasting, Interesting Content, easy to use navigation and good layout.
Try a grid style layout, many books explain this.
Im surprised I keep coming back to NT with all the crazy contrast and funky colors they have. But they do have good content and information that is not found elsewhere.
So i think the color is not really going to matter geniuos, just try created something interesting.
