There are many many Israeli's who want peace, and want Israel to withdraw from the occupied territories. And many Palestinians who are willing to accept a 2 state solution with a Jewish Israel. But then there are those who wish to annihalate Isreal and those who wish to annex all Palestinian lands.
To hold all Palestinian hopes of statehood and emancipation hostage to zealots of Hamas/Hizbollah/Al Aqsa is to punish the son for the crimes of the father. All over the Middle East and Asia there are terrorist networks striving to overthrow legitimate and illegitimate governments - including Saudia Arabia which has the most to fear from Al Qaeda. The point is, life goes on. The machinery of a state doesn't stop evolving simply because there are those unctrollable ppl who bring nothing but hate.
What concerns me, and why i'm most angred by todays news of the assasination of a terrorist leader; is that the Likud party has consistently shown a lack of resolve to make peace. Likuds record has been simply to undermine firstly the Palestinian Authority - which leaves the Palestinians with no legitimate representatives - and secondly to provoke the terrorists. The perogative is with Israel. By such actions hatred amongst the Palestinians is hightened, as is fear amongst Israeli. It leaves me to believe Likud does not want peace.
