Validation is highly overestimated. My site, for example, won't validate because my stupid host inserts a script at the end of the body part of the document. The code is perfectly written, there are no crossbrowser problems, but that lil' detail will make my site 'not valid' to the 'eyes' of W3C... Bullshit.
