YH managed it quite successfully by adding lots of personal features & functionality. Just a little 'sort by' option could be a start. Maybe more control of who gets to see your post, some kind of black-out feature. Dunno what purpose it would have cos knowone cares who they offend here. And I bet rasp would like an automatic 'this has been posted already' alert thing when you try and post a site. Design-wise, folk around here seem to like simplicity. I'd do away with the editorial, never read it. The sound is a big trademark so keep and develop that, elements of the grey colour should be kept too, and give options/themes like yh on other skins. Give users bonuses for amount of or succesful posts, like a link they post first gets 1000 hits, they get something, points, unlock site areas etc.
I dunno, just make everyone's names pink, that'll keep them happy.oh yeah, and make it shockwave ;)
