Selling online or just selling. Most DIY Design Brand loss money, and by DIY I mean graphic designers who know nothing about fashion.
If you are thinking about starting your own “I’m cool cause I got this clothing line” here are the simple facts.
1. An American Apparel (suck a$$) garment cost 4.20 blank
2. Screens cost $20 - $35 each (each color needs a screen) + films $15
3. Printing cost approx. 1.05 for 1 color and $2.35 for 6 color
4. Avg. Screen Print want you to run about 144, but you can get them to run less.
5. 4 design isn’t a collection it’s a hobby
6. Woven Labels are about $400 for 5,000 (with setup)
7. Printed Labels are about $90 for 1,000 (with setup), then $20-$40 for each additional 1,000
8. Sewing in a Label under the tape $0.50 - $0.80
9. Sewing in a Label over Tap $0.25 - $0.35
10. Polyp Bag is $0.10 - $0.15
11. Size Sticker on Bag $0.05 - $0.10So the cost to run one six color design is design, the “right way” is about
