Re: DIGGER...apparently it's NOT a good movie.
I have seen it, and I would encourage anyone to take a look and decide for oneself if it could be replaced with an email. Received opinion regarding creations like this is just not cricket.
It's the savant, bastard lovechild of Brazil and The Grand Budapest Hotel. It teeters on a rusty fence between Dr Strangelove and Twelve Monkeys. It gathers influences from far and wide: Peter Greenaway, The Coen Brothers and Terry Gilliam and all the while it inhabits it's own space.
It's a feast for the eyes, beautiful production design, camera work and editing. It's funny and tragic. Cruise, Plemons, Goodman, Huller, Ahmed are all excellent. It's a film you should make your own mind up about as I suspect the blatant political and social commentary could feel a bit too targeted for some.
"a cinematic charlatan who should have been buried by Hollywood two or three movies ago" Well that would be The Revenant and Birdman.
Think for yourself.
- I noticed that after the immediate "it bombed" news it's been gaining traction in online discussions.evilpeacock

- Fight Club, Donnie Darko, Shawshank Redemption, Bladerunner and Citizen Kane were all commercial disasters. If box office success is your measure of a cinema...Morning_star
