Finally got around to watching The odyssey, here are my thoughts.
Beautifully shot, gorgeous to look at especially on imax, grading, lighting, everything was great.
Didn't expect it to be as emotional for me as it was, I got teary eyed in a few places which surprised me lol
The effects were great, not once was I taken out of the film because off bad CGI, the cyclops was superb and cleverly though of.
matt Damon was mostly great but he was still Matt Damon, the everyman lost in ww2 or on mars or wherever, and he could have used some more talented mr Ripley, ie I didn't buy him so much as the wily Odysseus, he had great pathos, carried a lot of weight in his guilt and saw genuine love in his wanting to get back to his wife and home but lacked a little cunning.
The fight scene at the end was way too long and unnecessary, only part of the movie I was bored in.
Was waaaaay too short even for a 3 hour movie, this needed to be a series.
