    There have been multiple periods when QBN seemed like it might finally collapse.

    The password-reset disaster is one of the great examples.

    The site's “Forgot Password” system broke, producing server errors and broken CSS. Users immediately interpreted this as evidence that QBN was being abandoned.

    The thread rapidly became a miniature funeral:

    “They are pulling the plug.”
    “the mother ship have left us :(”
    discussion of a secret alternative meeting place
    users wondering whether moderators cared anymore
    jokes about hacking QBN to fix it

    And yet:

    QBN survived.

    Again.
