I know most of us have been at it for 25+ years... do you still get the, "oh shit how am I going to do this?" nerves when you start new projects...

My copywriter friend says he goes through that just the same although he's a veteran too.

It's not very strong for me any longer, but it's still there, that blank canvas anxiety.

    • I now exclusively seek out opportunities that give me this feeling, love talking myself into new gigs that terrify me b/c of a lack of industry experience.whatthefunk

    • I hardly feel that fear anymore, and I’m the sort of person who gets into trouble... I don’t know if I have it under control or if I’ve become reckless.OBBTKN
    • Not as bad. Even for the ones that would make me shit my pants I might lose sleep a night but quickly trust my process and that I’ve never not delivered. Ever.monospaced
    • We do the best we can. We aren’t saving lives. Client deadlines can magically shift when they need to. Amazing.monospaced
    • Every. Fucking. Time.
I wish I could be more relaxed but I also know that I need the pressure to be happy with the result after.

    • It's true... you're right. It may just come from our own high standards.canoe
    • Good point Long. The pressure brings out the best. Such a paradox.monospaced
    • Design-adjacent, but - I know what I can do, and what I can't. Inbetween lie dreams and I've just got to spend a half hour working out accomplish them.Nairn
    • And by dreams I mean 'hallucinations' not aspirations.Nairn
    • * if I can accomplish them.
Fucking spastic trying to edit to the notes lettercount.
