Yes, but sugar from fruit is beneficial sugar, not simple (lick 'ems sticks) sugars laced with artificial crap. I think the idea is you're not supposed to eat junk food, but it's wise to have healthy sugar pumped through your blood stream at continuous intervals over extended periods of time.
*I'm not a nutritionist. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.
