Foil embossing is the combination of foil stamping - application of foil with heat - and embossing - creating a raised impression - that results in a raised and foil stamped image.
Blind embossing is the creation of an embossed image that is not stamped over a printed image, not foil stamped, and the resulting raised image is the same color as the paper. Blind embossing may sometimes refer to a registered or ink emboss where the embossed image is printed exactly over a printed image on the page.
