We manage all our external client assets via Google Drive already where we have version control and sharing permissions sorted.
So really we need to house all the current client folders with open jobs for internal use, probably 600-1000 job folders and around 20TB.
Each year we will archive all the client folders and start new ones as we go, some carry over. We can probably keep the archive within the server / VPN framework we have now.
A long way of saying we want to work they way we do now but with our server infrastructure in the cloud for current clients.
