Linear layouts are the new hotness, but I like the traditional. Keychron Q11 is a great split option, you can push them together and it's just a regular keyboard. I've got the two about 10" apart, and added some risers to 'tent' them a bit. Plus it's got 2 knobs and a column of macro keys that you can program to do whatever using VIA/QMK:
