One central theme of American politics for the past two decades is that every time a government gets elected they pass a massive giveaway like this bill -- tax cuts for their donors, rewards for their supporters.

Industries that funded the candidate get payback for investing in their candidacy. The entire system to some extent revolves around this corrupt dynamic.

But how much longer can that go on? This bill is going to push the debt well above $40 trillion...it could be closer to $50 trillion by 2030. From what I've heard we're not that far from seeing some negative consequences such as increased inflation and there could be catastrophic effects at some point.

Can the GOP pass another tax cut the next time they get elected? Can the Democrats pass another spending bill?

We may have reached the limit, and unfortunately what happens next is probably not going to be good...people fighting over a smaller and smaller pie.

    • the people who lose out are always those already less fortunate. It's a gross misuse of power. They may as well just gas the poor to deathIanbolton

    • very true chimp, I'm sure we can find ways of making them MORE dead. How about gathering all the poor into a swamp-like area and blowing it up?Ianbolton
