Cruddlebub,
There can be problems with the charge/audio board but i think a vid from the seller showing all keys and knobs, audio and power working would make it a safer bet.
Or you might fond someone selling one WITH these faults at a cheaper price then you can fix it yourself.I had an OP-1 many many moons ago. I got it for a good price as seller said that power switch was glitchy. When I got the device I could feel that there was dust/grit inside the switch so I found that sitting and just sliding the switch on/off slowly (and slightly pushing/grinding against it) eventually cleared the problem.
I had a real love/hate relationship with the OP-1 and eventually sold it. What I loved about it was the pick-up-and-jam-ability of the thing, its a real good creative and fun sketchpad.
The things I didnt like, no 'undo' and you have to commit. If you want a scalable track then you have to plan accordingly. You are restricted to one song at a time. Backups a pain, having to export out the tracks. etc.
I actually think the OP-1 Field addresses a lot of the issues I and others had with the original but at £1600 I couldnt justify that kind of spend. And its still 'tape' based. If I had that kind of money to spend on a wee jam toy then I'd go for the XY as it is sequencer based and not tape based. Much more scope for 'playing live' with it and making non-destructive tweaks on the fly etc.
If you have an iPad then Id recommend checking out the old but still brilliant Samplr.
- Thanks man, that's super helpful. I am winning one on eBay for under 400 but that'll easily sell for more. I'm not desperate for one, but have had my eye on...cruddlebub
- Then for a while. I have ordered the crum hum (DIY kit) and will jam with that once my cousin has built it for me lol. I'm paying him in haribo!!cruddlebub
- I've had one for about 7 years and it works as new. I still love it although I use it pretty lightly. Battery life still great.letterhead
- I will leave it for now with the crummy hum due soon. The torso S4 is having new firmware too so I have more than enough to tinker with at the momentcruddlebub
