Someone I know went to college for six weeks in 1998, quit, and never went back.

They eventually found there way into starting a small business that has nothing to do with what they studied, and in which they've been really successful and made a name for themselves from.

They still refer to that six weeks of college by saying "when I was in college..." "bet you didn't know I went to school to study [field]...." And they still list that school in the present tense on FB, aka "Studies [field] at [school] - 1998.

Why? Who cares? They seem to love that people will assume they either went for most of what you'd expect them to have gone for and just didn't finish, or that they graduated. They've been so successful that their business is well known and and they have every reason to be proud of, so why this apparent need to talk about the college they barely even went to?
