    Update, it turned out not to be broken ribs. Although the pain was similar (I've already broken a couple in a bike crash), it was a severe trauma.

    The mobility initially I felt was due to muscle tension, not a bone fracture.

    I've been in bed for four days, but summer isn't lost... Hallelujah!
