    Warfare

Is this the best war film ever made? Maybe.
Saw this in IMAX yesterday. It's stunning, intimate, monotonous, moving, disorientating, bleak, exciting, funny and downright terrifying. The sound design is notably brilliant. We left the theatre in silence, quite literally shell shocked.
For a film that's essentially shot in two rooms it's breathtaking.
Don't expect nice arching narratives, glorious 'Deakins' vistas or personal journeys and heroism. Alex Garland and his co director have made something unique and engaging. It won't be for everyone. It's not an enjoyable 90minutes but it is effecting, insightful and pretty fucking brilliant.

    • Was a good movie, definitely not the best war film, quite different though.PhanLo
    • Was it better than Full Metal Jacket or the Thin Red Line?Ianbolton
    • It's quite different in the setting and mood. Just shows the carnage and horror of a failed operation and the dull reality of it all.
      Well worth a watch.
