I'll be mansplaining to all the men here. From a jungian perspective most of out reactions here are projections.

Example: If you struggle with asserting yourself but see someone as "too aggressive," it might be your own unexpressed assertiveness being projected.

    • so I'm a closeted Lakers fan?_niko
    • How does that explain NBQ’s racism, which is claims is just his hatred of Islam, which is still racist.Ianbolton
    • He might be projecting his own fears, insecurities, ignorance, his aggression and his own "inferiority" on muslims. Also follows collective scapegoating.Beeswax
    • Also muslims might be carrying qualities that he suppresses in himself. He might love to follow rules and suppress spontaneity and these cultures trigger him.Beeswax
    • He relies on individual cases( like rape) to justify his projections, gives him a sense of belonging too, but ultimately disconnected from fundamental truths.Beeswax
    • He doesn't really care about the raped people, its an internal crisis.Beeswax
    • Similarly I react to Israel's ethnic cleansing, but I discern a zionist from a jew or an Israeli. He supports killing of children in Gaza but cries about rapes.Beeswax
    • Well said, Beeswax. 100% agree.
Also, hope you're well, it's been a bit!

    • Nobody supports thr inhumanity of human cruelty. Please. It’s this hyperbole that is making things worse.monospaced
    • good one Beeswax!renderedred
    • that's great beeswax but does that work at the extremes? are we projecting if we dislike ted bunny or the KKK or Nazis?
not sure if NBQ hates all muslims or jus
      _niko
    • ...just the extremists._niko
    • @mono saying meh, or "they have the right to defend" are a form of support for that inhumanity I think. We're all responsible.Beeswax
    • @niko that's moral judgement of those evils but if it becomes an obsession than there's projection. Thats why the oppressed often becomes the oppressorBeeswax
    • We don't know NBQ's story. He's inherently innocent as we weren't given a choice before birth. And that's why racism is dumb.Beeswax
    • Logically, compassion is the only choice. Easier said than done. I'm struggling with that as well.Beeswax

    • Calling 'projection' in an argument is just a pseudo-sophisticated "I know you are, but what am I? way to deflect criticism without addressing the issue.palimpsest
    • Carl Jung would not approve.palimpsest
    • ^ but that means you secretly approve?

      Did I do it right?
