It's been over a week, but since I'm here...

Shared a sample idea with a friend that makes beats, next morning he sends me a track, in the same style music that I make, changes the sample a bit (same words different voice).

Perplexed, I give him the benefit of the doubt and said, "Sounds like its on its way to dopeness, when are we going to work on it?"

He replied, "It's done, your sample was wack, you're too busy with your family, you couldn't have done this."

I told him that's the kind of shit Zuckerberg said when he stole facebook and then I laughed in his fucking face.

He always comes across like he defines what's cool... then steals my shit and says I'm the one overreacting. Tbh, the sample/song is great, and its' fun, but dang, to lose a friend over this kinda shit is just depressing.

    • I talked with a Detroit Techno artist here and I was like... does it really matter who you sample... I mean ravers sampled Ronald Reagan and who else knows who.canoe
    • He was like... well as long as there isn't any baggage with the person, ya know, like sampling Bill Cosby and R Kelly might not fly these days...canoe
    • Make the track you had in mind, don't worry about people who don't worry about youspl33nidoru
    • I just thought his whole perspective was crazy - I'm going to steal your idea because the person you sampled is mainstream. That's just some bold shit.canoe
    • What do you think?canoe
    • No more sharing ideas with him for a start!mort_
    • For sure... and the last time I'll talk about music with him. When the dust settled I went through a mental rewind of the last two years of us drinking...canoe
    • and working in the studio together and 9/10 times, my idea was wack. Whether it was a Prince sample, a riff, a general idea, an approach to working on a song...canoe
    • ...like having a concept (god forbid)... it was always wack and uncool. I've come to the conclusion that he's a weird fucker... can't stand DJs/producers...canoe
    • ...with motherfucking attitudes... like this fucker from Ireland that thinks he's Mr Detroit now... and this guy from Canada who lives in Japan who....canoe
    • bites from Chicago and Detroit... puts out an album, his first, and signed the copies and sells it like that... like anyone knows who the fuck you are...canoe
    • ... and then have the audacity to bitch about EDM artists who are into it for the fame. Spare me.canoe
    • thanks spl33 and mortcanoe
    • Stomp this shit out quick and address it head on. Fuck a "friend".cannonball1978
