Regarding my addiction to citrus fruits (especially tangerines) during the winter, I just discovered that you can overdose on vitamin C!

- I'm eating tangerines because I love them, not because I'm looking for super vitamins. That, and because it's better than smoking for a 50-year-old like me ;)OBBTKN

I enrolled my eldest in Spanish classes at the Instituto Cervantes years back.palimpsest - They were studing the Magellan expedition and he came back with homework on "Escorbuto".palimpsest
- Since his explanation wasn't clear I thought Escorbuto was either a ship or an island. I had trouble finding it on a map.palimpsest
- There is a belief that the Basques made long sea voyages with their cellars full of cider to avoid the "Escorbuto" (scurvy)...OBBTKN
- It wasn't true, because cider doesn't have vitamin C. But surely the long month-long trip was more pleasant, LOLOBBTKN
- Imagine sailing across the Atlantic with the means of the 16th century... I would also take cider.OBBTKN
