New laptop recommendations if you have any.
Needs to be capable of art/video/making music.
Prob 32gb Ram.
14/15"
Windows. This Dell I have has a fried motherboard. Common for this model seemingly and a ~£600 fix! Can only charge via USBC which makes the computer grind to a halt every few minutes.
Driving me insane!Been thinking of a custom build from Utopia or something. Anyone went this way rather than Dell/Lenovo etc?
- Utopia: £1900 for 15" i9, 64gb Ram, 500gb Drive 1, 1tb Drive 2, GeForce RTX 4070microkorg
- Similar spec Lenovo Legion 9i is £3485
(has a RTX4090 tho)microkorg - Lenovo? Sony? Asus?
Lol just go with Macs man******** - The problem is Windows man, not the hardware********
- For a lot of people it’s absolutely the hardware. Apple hardware, as good as it is in some areas, is a non starter for many others.monospaced
- I bought a Mac today, btw, so I’m not just here to argue.monospaced
- But for video, I agree, Mac hardware is the way to go. For 3D, not so much.monospaced
- Problem is, if you want a Mac to match this performance, you’re paying almost 2x more at least.monospaced
- Mac you do pay more. But in terms of Mac vs lenovo it's the same actually about £4k.
the price above is a sale price £3.5K.microkorg - As a kid and through art college it was macs. My first job introduced me to PCs and I've been PC for 20+ years. My current job for 4 years has been with Mac.microkorg
- But I use a PC as my home/art/beatmaking computer. Im more familiar with PC and don't have any sort of fondness towards the Mac way.microkorg
- But i wouldn't say no. I do realise that macs prob last longer than PCs. Been checking out what I can get mac-wise. M2 or M3 2nd hand.microkorg
