After watching couple of sensationalist youtube videos I think that Open AI, Sam Altman and his backers like Bezos, Peter Thiel etc are on a "mission" to save us from the dangers of AI by spreading fear and saying things like AI is going to end humanity and such.
The old Silicon valley way of buying competitors out, the new way of policy engineering and driving out competitors is in.
I think all this fear mongering is stemmed from this power hunger and they have enough power to single themselves out by advocating responsible AI while developing a system that they will eventually lose control and fuck everything off.
This reminds me of Google's old motto "Don't be evil"
Now they turned into genocide enablers by AI that they provide to crazy Israel
