Very good friend for years—over 20. He's an icon in the rock/punk culture in Uruguay. His band is very well-known across Latin America, and while I don't want to directly connect his art with this post, I will share some of his music later. Async.
This guy has always been an icon of the Uruguayan punk subculture. We've always been close friends and nothing more. He's a great person—sincere, profound, and trustworthy.
From one day to the next, I started receiving dozens of messages on Instagram—posts, direct messages, all sorts of things. It turns out he was accused of sexual assault. A girl he was dating reported him, and he immediately lost his job.
I called him, upset and angry. "What did you do, fucking shithead?" ... "Maqui, I was having sex with this girl. Suddenly she pushed me and kicked me in the neck, started yelling 'this is wrong, this is wrong,' and ran away. I haven't slept in three days."
This guy is having the worst days of his life right now. I trust him.. I mean, I KNOW him. What the fuck?! This is so much worse than I could ever imagine for someone this close to me.
