Just got back from family dinner for my dad's 75th, lots of family and friends there. Among the guests were the wife and daughter of our neighbours the Clarksons, as far back as when I was born. The father Donald was a doctor, a truly lovely man, and he died of alzheimer's a few years ago.
Donald's daughter had crocheted a teddy bear for my daughter as this was only the second time they had met her. The teddy sort of looks a bit like Mr Rogers with a red sweater and what looks to be a little tie.
We just got home and my partner told me she was naming the teddy Dr Donald. I cried like a baby. Funny how little things like that can hit you in just the most tender of places, and made me realise how sad I was he was gone.
