Shopping at Temu, AliExppress and the like is very tempting. If you know what to look for, you can get very decent stuff for 10% of the local retail price.
Also, you're directly supporting the Chinese government. And apparently the workers would see working at Amazon as a dream scenario in comparison.
But fuck me, it's cheap. And sometimes the local markups are retarded. I'm for instance not paying $25 for a fucking piece of lycra:
Bike skull cap, $25 Danish store
Bike skull cap, Temu $2
- To be fair, Danish prices are high in general.jagara
- Free shipping on all orders. Must... resist... arghjagara
- It’s probably lower qualitymonospaced
- You'd be surprised. The expensive one is also made in China.jagara
- Everybody is made in china.monospaced
- Everything that is.monospaced
- same factory that made the expensive ones. swapped with cheaper product. put on different logo. sell only on temu to avoid other cost. bam! cheaper product.pango
- you'd be surprised some expensive one uses the same material as the cheaper ones. cuz step 3 profit!pango
- https://www.youtube.…pango
- in other words. bad for manufacture. bad for for local business cuz they avoid tariff. bad for human right. bad for environment cuz shit breaks quicks.pango
- but you're happy and temu is happy.pango
- Good point(s). Also, I'm not entirely happy. I'm conflicted (my post does reflect this, see middle paragraph). I just said that shopping there is tempting.jagara
- they fucked over so many people and you're still not happy?!?pango
- Many more people need to be fucked over to ensure my happiness.jagara
