This is a forum for "creative" types, most of us have worked in advertising and should easily see through Musk's shenanigans.

What is he doing? He's selling cars.

Six years ago he was still the smooth eco-minded California nerd who had sold the idea of a clean, overpriced, underdeveloped and still impractical at that time, electric car to California lawyers and dentists.

When he released Model 3 and control over that segment went on autopilot, pun intended, he decided to move on to the lucrative market of pickup trucks.

How does that smooth climate-saving California snowflake sell a Tesla to—I'm using a wide brush here but you know who I mean—rednecks?

    By becoming one of them.

He put on a new persona. Turned right wing, changed his style, even moved the company to Texas. He's now someone pickup truck clientele can identify with.

The GFY comment timed with the launch of the most GFY car in history is just the cherry on top of a brilliant campaign.

    • paramilitary guerrilla gangsta thugs will love this truck too...neverscared
    • Partially agree. Also just listen to what he’s saying. “You’re going to blackmail me with MONEY?” Emphasis on the money partnb
    • It’s called “Fuck You Money” for a reason. He has it, and he took Twitter private. He’s refusing to let other CEOs run his shit, even if he loses billions.nb
    • Don’t forget that he owns huge stake in both Tesla and SpaceX. Disney and Coke are not going to ruin this guy’s fortunenb
    • The government will pay him literally any amount for reusable rockets and a network of satellitesnb
    • Even if Twitter went bankrupt, Musk’s net worth would still be 300x that of Bob Iger. He’d still be the richest man on the planet, even after losing $40 billionnb
    • Think about that when you hear him say “you’re going to blackmail me with money??”nb
    • Also California shut down his factory during lockdown and he got btut hurt.instrmntl
    • i still think bro was fucking gacked... he may have have been playing to his fanbase because they gobble that shit upjonny_quest_lives
    • but when the interviewer and crowd sort of went went dead silent for a bit you could see some sort of realization pierce his echo chamberjonny_quest_lives
    • Interesting thought and makes sense but part of me doubts he’s so wily_niko
    • My take is that he desperately wants people to like him, he wants to be seen as a hero, and he isn’t a great communicatornb
    • Watch the interview. He says he cares an out people who are actually doing good, not just saying they support good. You cannot downplay Tesla’s impactnb
    • *aboutnb
    • It’s like a mix of having a huge ego but then he has this underlying desire to be loved and appreciatednb
    • that´s not blackmail... they just don´t like him...neverscared
    • it was kinda idiotic... he was cracking up full on 3-5 times in the interview before he got asked if he is happy ... and he said not... seemed prettyneverscared
    • unreflective...also no one was cracking up except him... kinda lunatic.neverscared
    • yeah there is no grand marketing strategy at play here for the cybertruck. dude was just gacked.jonny_quest_lives
    • he just made it easier for advertisers to reduce their EOY spend which will help all these companies he told to GF themselves have better Q4 resultsjonny_quest_lives
    • he's coherent enough to realize that lack of advertisers will kill X/Twitter too. he says as much and then attempts to guilt those advertisers backjonny_quest_lives
    • with this weird statement: "And the whole world will know that those advertisers killed the company and we’ll document it in great detail."jonny_quest_lives
    • https://www.rev.com/…jonny_quest_lives
    • lol.. that thing with the friends and how often u call thing was hillarious puny too..neverscared
