    Both skinny_puppy and thumb_screws recently convinced me to get in to the world of whisky (I'm a bourbon and rye kind of fellow — when not drinking cider or wine — so I basically know nothing going into this).

    Finally pulled the trigger yesterday, and got myself this little blended Japanese number:

    By no means top of the range, but — as a toe-dipper for someone like me — it was pretty exciting. Without getting into the granular details, it's a very pleasant sip.

    Eyes open and palate thrilled, I've ordered this Japanese one (also a blend) after reading a shitload of good reviews about it, and reading the characteristics. It arrives probably on Monday:

    I can't wait to even nose it.
