Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of Hamas' founder who later became one of Israel's top informants, speaks with CNN's Jake Tapper about Israel's war on the terror group and the situation in Gaza

"What can you tell us about what motivates these people. What are they like? What are the leaders of Hamas like? What do they want?"

Mosab Hasan Yosef: "Well, they are a religious movement and this is what everybody is afraid to say. If Hamas was a political movement then we can satisfy their political ambition but Hamas is a religious movement that does not believe in political borders. You know, they want to establish an islamic state on the rubble of the state of Israel. They want to annihilate the Jewish people and the Jewish state. They want to kill everybody who support Israel then establish an Islamic state...They want to establish eventually an Islamic state, a global state...[T]he more power, you know, we give them, the more aggressive they are going to be...You know, in war, people die...Israel did not start it but Israel will end it."

    • Who didn’t know this
      ********
    • based on protest footage I've seen, I would hope a lot of people. Otherwise there's a whole lot of people waving Hamas kit that feel the sameGnash
    • obvs the interview was more than the copy pasteGnash
    • Hamas is a death cult but the question is whether killing thousands of innocent people is justified in response.yuekit
    • Or whether strategically it's a good idea to launch ground invasion. The US and UK governments, not exactly anti-Israel, are expressing doubts about this.yuekit
    • "waving Hamas kit" whaaat? that is supporting a terrorist organisation and possessing their flag will get you instantly arrested in the UK and most of Europe.kingsteven
    • haven't seen it in any protest footage, maybe some actual nutjobs at it though.kingsteven
    • That’s clearly not true, king.Gnash
    • More than a few ‘nut jobs’Gnash
    • @yuekit, we’ll this exhamas guy seems to think soGnash
    • show me. i've done extensive searching and found one guy in NYC that was widely circulated as having a Hamas flag but its just a green flag with the shahadah.kingsteven
    • eventually found two more in london (and not part of a main protest) that were identified as jihadist or isis flags which are the shahadah too.kingsteven
    • To be fair if I was this guy I would also want everyone in Hamas killed. He's probably one of their #1 targets.yuekit
    • But good for him for completely rejecting his upbringing like that...you have to respect someone who's able to do that.yuekit
