Just spent two hours trying to reconnect to wifi after rebooting the router.

    1. Could see my network the entire time, including signal strength, but said it could not be joined. All other devices reconnected without issue.
    2. Apple's advice is generally useless; obvious stuff like "make sure you're connecting to the right network" and paradoxically "check for updates" (how?).
    3. Network Diagnostics is absolutely useless if you can't connect, but the OS keeps suggesting it.
    4. Rebooting and resetting the SMC and PRAM, nenewing the DHCP made no difference.
    5. It could tell if I used the wrong password, but refused to connect when using the right one.
    6. Eventually solved by force quitting SystemUIServer, thanks to a reply on the Apple stackexchange (and not the accepted answer).

    Infuriating.

    • Problems like this are usually cacheing issues. Router knows you have an IP and refuses to give it to you again. Rebooting the router might have worked.comicsans
    • Rebooted it twice after the initial reboot.i_monk
    • Also timeouts, some things just resolve themselves after a couple of hours. But yes, maddening when it happens.comicsans
    • interesting - i'm having the same issue at the mo. it must be the russianshans_glib
