I just dodged a scam saying that I could get a 50% discount on my internet bill if I paid it a year in advance -- WITH A TARGET GIFTCARD.
They "waived" my internet bill for this month and then said that I need to call them at a specific number with an extension and use a Target Gift Card to pay. This was supposedly part of a promotion for Target gift cards and credit cards.
I got suspicious and googled "Target" plus my internet company and "promotion" and just saw "scam scam scam" all over the results.
I told the guy I see that this is a scam, and he said "but then how did I know your billing information and pay your bill?" and I said ok well thanks for paying my internet bill k thx bai.
The rub? I got my internet bill paid for this month by a scammer! Changed my password and enabled 2-factor authentication.
- It's actually a pretty common discount. I'm almost up on my full year, it's really the only time I ever go into target anymore.
take advantage dudefuturefood - i'll pay your internet bill if you send me hundreds in target gift cards. i won't save you any money though, it will be more expensive.capn_ron

- ^ if theyve got your number and are phishing for passport no's etc then likely they will attempt a sim swap by claiming to be you to current company.microkorg
