In total contrast to work realisation of the day, Cool Story of the Day.

A dude who I follow on YouTube reviews cycling equipment and apps on his channel. Maybe 4 months ago we ran across eachother on Reddit and I plugged/endorsed this app I had been using on my Garmin for the last year or so. Two months later I see this guy has not only responded to me on Reddit, he has spent the last two months reviewing the product, and has posted a video on YouTube, racking up almost 30k hits.

Out of nowhere last night I decided to contact the developer of the app I endorsed, just to find out what happened to him after his app appeared on YouTube.

He responded to me: "yes, june and july were a bit nuts with all the extra traffic. thank you very much! i'll give you a free lifetime ultimate subscription later this afternoon"

Based off the hit count, even if only 10% of viewers subscribed to his lowest subscription level for the app ($5USD/yr), the dude made $15k off the video.

For one Reddit comment and one YouTube post I'd say that's a pretty fucking good outcome!

Moral of the story: even if it's not your own idea, support the good work and efforts of others, it doesn't cost you a thing and who knows the benefits it will reap.

    Happy weekend my QBN peeps.
