"X" might make sense as a parent company that includes everything and all apps or all of its companies. If he wanted to create an "everything app", he could still do that and include Twitter as a subset of that app, for example.

But rebranding Twitter as X is just so incredibly stupid. Maybe I'm missing something.

Twitter and its logo/icon the bird just made sense. Just like "googling", "tweeting" has become a standard term.

    Now what? X what?

Also, the X and the stark b/w contrast may not appeal to the younger audience who may prefer the hipper instagram/threads look. Probably the same for advertisers.

    • Buying Twitter was a dumb move.
Removing its brand identity and its social cachet is just next level dumb.
What next? 16 character posts to save on data?

    • Now what? X what?
He'll ask his audience. Next day it's solved.

    • Worrying about what a social media platform logo is isn’t really pertinent to real life sorry. Come at me bro.monospaced
    • It’s not like the logo is gonna make or break how it’s adopted. It’s not going to cause people to leave. Holy smokes.monospaced

    • As designers we should recognize that the draw of a modern app isn’t its logo. It’s the user experience. This really doesn’t matter.monospaced
    • Acting like you don’t understand me and then mocking me with nonsense about real life and hallucinations doesn’t change that.monospaced
    • uuuuh monospaced recognizing the importance of UX

    • not sure why you would find that amusing, all things considered in what I do, etcmonospaced
    • I do believe people put to much emphasis on a logo when it's changed, but really don't give a fuck in the long run, from decades of experience :)monospaced
