Have you been to any of the pirate entertainment sites lately (like https://watchseries.id or similar)? Putting ethics aside for a moment, they've gotten incredibly impressive. Aside from all the movies and TV shows you could think of in HD (even really old stuff), they now have watch queues, continue watching where you left off, follow features, complete subtitles and so on. And they make it look like a legitimate service complete with a decent looking (if generic) interface. All for the price of a few (not even that many-) popups.

    • 1080p stereo only
      ********
    • You won't settle for anything but 4K in Reach-A-Round-Sound®...jagara
    • ? :)jagara
    • Honestly, if it isn’t in 4k surround I see no point, because I’ve become used to that with pretty much all content made in the last decade.monospaced
    • It I guess if you watch on a laptop this doesn’t matter and you probably don’t care that you’re missing so much in the first placemonospaced
    • I watch it on a TV with stereo speakers. I think the vast majority watches films and movies this way.jagara
    • And honestly, I more or less can't tell the difference between 1080p and 4K from 2 meters away from my TV.jagara
    • A 55 inch TV with stereo sound is unwatchable to you?jagara
    • yup 4k looks identical to HD from a certain distance.fadein11
    • I'd expect this kind of snobbery from someone too young to remember pre-HD formats.i_monk
    • 120 inch, and the funny thing is that even if i switch it down to HD mode 4k movies still look better than 1080p.
      ********
    • 4K hdr move can't be compared to a 1080p overcompressed mp4. also some of these is 720p :D this is good if you aren't at home. nice share thanks
      ********
    • I already have YouTube premium, Spotify premium and not willing to pay for Netflix when a lot of movies/ shows aren't on there but on other streaming services.NBQ00
    • ..if Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Apple+ etc etc all joined together and charged $20/mo or so I'd subscribe immediately.NBQ00
    • lol the only thing higher than 1080p is my phone.pango
    • oh damn. watchseries was dead for a while.pango
    • Awesome, thanks for the share! Pop-ups are NSFW ;)robthelad
    • Watch series is constantly taken down (dcma) and brought back like a zombie Phoenix. Its been my go to for years. Also, https://www3.6movies…Akagiyama
    • On my tv the difference between 4k and 1080 is insanely obvious. Dolby vision is a game changer too. these sites the quality is just so piss poor in comparisonmonospaced
    • If you aren’t hearing the full spectrum of sound, you really are missing out these days. :) it is NOT snobbery btw.monospaced
    • Yeah, but who has those insane home theater setups?jagara
    • It’s not insane. With tv speakers now so terrible, many households have pretty great soundbars, and many have a decent receiver and 5.1 setup. Not niche anymoremonospaced
    • You could pick up a pair of Sonos ir Apple speakers, and have Dolby atmos. It’s becoming the norm, so please don’t act like it’s just home theater anymore.monospaced
    • In fact, all the streaming services tout their Dolby vision and Dolby atmos and HDR capabilities because they know customers are demanding it.monospaced
    • If that level of fidelity wasn’t desired, it would not be treated as such a big deal, it would be an afterthought ;)monospaced
    • It's not snobbery if you're into it, just like hifi gear the sky is the limit when it comes to these systems. also no question 4k kills HD.BuddhaHat
    • I'm not calling you a snob, I simply don't really care, tbh. If I want better sound, I put on headphones. I like a minimal setup.jagara
    • I have an actual stereo, whereas most of my friends just have some kind of Bluetooth crap. THAT I can't get used to :Djagara
    • ; )
I have 1080 and Bluetooth crap
      pango
    • You do you. Me do me. Mono do Mono. Peace in the valley.jagara
    • Right, that's what I've been saying. You clearly don't care about quality, therefore this bottom barrel shit is okay for you.monospaced
    • So cheap and inconsiderate they prefer to steal creative content and settle for shit quality, keeping that industry alive. You do you, that's for sure.monospaced
    • For me, it's a just supplement. I pay for streaming services, like Amazon Prime and Tidal. Sometimes if shit isn't available on my platform, there's Watchseries.jagara
    • And I actually pay to watch 1080p in stereo. I can't tell the difference, like I said. You're an elitist, dude. The VAST majority is fully content with this.jagara
    • And if you read my post, I'm simply talking about how closely the pirate services resemble the real thing these day. I find that interesting.jagara
    • I'm not really trying to advocate piracy here. The services will die, if no one pays for them.jagara
    • well.... i probably watch more movies in theatre more than anyone here. 6-12 times a year. and also pirate the most XDpango
