Just got this fledgling sparrow weaned from being dropper-fed to eating solid food and drinking from a bowl. I reckon it can be released into the wild in a couple days.
I still don’t know this thing’s story; it just showed up in my house all freaked out and unable to fly. My cat was with me when i heard it and he seemed as surprised as i was, but i have my suspicions
- He’s eating ground-up mealwormsscarabin

- I just did this with a baby raccoon. Abandoned or orphaned and shelters wouldn’t take it — they were all fullGnash
- We have raccoon visitors almost every night but haven’t had to rehab one yet, fortunately. How’d it go?scarabin
- Stressful. Feeding was fine (thank you internet) but they don’t learn to survive without other coons to show them. Too young to releaseGnash
- And it’s illegal to keep them, but when I called the city they said they’d euthanize it if I left it with them :/Gnash
- But there are tons of raccoons here. I asked around to see if anyone new of a brood with young pups and I found some so...Gnash
- I took it to that area and tried to connect the little pup with another family of raccoons.Gnash
- 4 nights of exposing the little thing to other raccoons and eventually one came over to it and seemed the take it inGnash
- Watched it for a while and the little guy didn’t come back to me and seemed to get on with the others so I guess he’s good now :)Gnash
- Although, for all I know they may have taken the little guy and eaten him laterGnash
- My daughter was in heaven though. She loves animals fiercely :)Gnash
- Aww, glad it found a new group!scarabin
- damn what a great story gnash. and it reminds me of a little racoon that got its little paw all tangled in my kids backyard soccer net, we called animal_niko
- control and they came and rescued it, its little paw was broken from struggling, they said they'd take care of it...so I was happy, but after what you said_niko
- ...I realize now that they didn't mean the nurture it back to health and release it in the wild, they meant take care of it the mob way :(_niko
- ^ you never know. Maybe the rehab shelters had room for it. I think they try and find rehab before they... you knowGnash
