I went to a huge auction today which was 90% military stuff like knives, swords etc, where my only interest lay with a few lots of old punk and new wave posters. I always go to these things knowing my limits as I always do, but these posters which were near the end of the auction finished at a crazy prices. I know there were a couple of others of interest in with the main lot I had my eye on including a couple of Throbbing Gristle advertising flyers and that was maybe what tipped it over, I had left a commission bid of £100 but was prepared for being flexible to £150, how wrong I was...
The lot finished a £620!!! incredible.

There were some Runaways (as above) and Sex Pistols posters too but that lot went for £520 when my commission bid was £50.
It's probably the market these days where old punks have the disposable income to pay over the odds for stuff they lost 45 years ago when their mum painted their bedrooms (perhaps) or the online market is strong enough to buy high and still resell at a profit.

This Rezillos poster looked suspiciously like a very similar one that has been reproduced and is on Ebay for a tenner but £140 for it, erm, no thanks.

There were a couple of A3 sized flyer/newsletters from Belfast's old Good Vibrations record shop but again I was way out with my bid of £30 as they went for £130.

A box with some Stiff Records and one by an obscure Scottish new wave band went for £520, which made a laughing stock of my £40 estimate.
