I spent a huge amount of time re-building mine and my employer-at-the-time's font library way back in the mid-aughts when OpenType started taking over.
This mostly involved re-licensing, acquiring a full set of the "classics" via Adobe Font Folio updates, but also seeking out conversions of more obscure classics. These days I still have my T1 masters in archives, but everything else is either TrueType or OTF. And really it's been much smoother sailing ever since, at least as far as font-conflicts and corrupt metrics goes.
Way back then Apple even extended Type 1 support due to demand so the migration wasn't super pressing. Still, OTF versions of all the Type 1 typefaces had updated ligatures, expanded characters, and better Unicode support.
It's been over a decade since that first warning that T1 fonts would lose support. At this point I can't blame software makers for finally dropping them.
