    The lab leak saga really is incredible...you have people like Robert Redfield, Trump's CDC director during the pandemic, testifying that it was a lab leak with no real evidence of it.

    And in the process Redfield reveals that he has no understanding of concepts like what a furin cleavage site is, doesn't know that SARS-1 transmitted human to human and generally makes a fool of himself.

    Scientists are basically in awe at how this person was CDC director and it actually explains why the initial US response to the pandemic was so disastrous. But it's not clear to me that journalists, who have generally done a terrible job covering this topic, even realize it.
