This is why it's a good idea to read these stories critically instead of jumping to conclusions like this guy did:

So what does this story actually say? The lab leak was proven right? We wuz right, the gov'ment lied?

No...it says ONE department of the US government changed their view on the most likely origin, from undecided to leaning weakly towards lab leak.

And the Department of Energy shared their intel with other government agencies like the CIA, NSA etc and none of the others were convinced by it.

"Assessment Covid-19 leaked from Chinese lab is a minority view within US intel community"

    • Considering the fact that China was never willing to help investigate the origins of Covid-19, refused to share any of its finding...and blamed the US...utopian
    • Why is China still hiding all of their intelligence regarding Covid? What are they afraid of? The truth? - Fuck China!utopian
    • The entire world knows that Covid-19 was birthed in Wuhan, China.utopian
    • Because that's how China operates. They think about internal domestic politics first and never admit a mistake.yuekit
    • Anyway it's difficult to trace the origin of an unknown virus under the best circumstances. Where did Omicron come from? No one knows, even as the entireyuekit
    • world was monitoring SARS variants. The exact origin of Ebola and many other viruses is still unknown.yuekit
    • People seem to be under the illusion that we're living in the Jetsons or some shit and we can track every virus that's circulating, even the ones we don't knowyuekit
    • about. That's totally wrong...in reality there's no way to test for an unknown virus and it's very difficult to widely test animal populations.yuekit
    • So it's an inherently difficult task, then layer on top of that an authoritarian government more concerned with PR than finding the origin. When the outbreakyuekit
    • happened China removed and destroyed (?) all the animals being sold at the market where it began. They've never released any testing of these animals.yuekit
    • Just that one action could have burned the trail of evidence. And without an explanation, people start making up ones.yuekit
    • @utopian This is a great summary BTW by NPR...yuekit
