Trying to come up with small-ish things I can cut out of perspex to add to a kid's birthday goodie bag. I've just spent the last forty minutes modifying a bunch of available spirograph designs and whilst I've had some fun drawing with them, I'm now wondering whether they're at all suitable for a 4 year old.
I did buy a small kid's spirograph for some kid's borthday a few weeks back, which is why I thought this'd be a good idea - but that was big and clunky and brightly-coloured plastic.
I think, unfortunately, this wee one might be a bit complex for a 4 year old to use, as cool as it fucking is. Maybe I'm wrong.
Any thoughts about what sort of thing I could make for a bunch of midget children? I *had* hoped this'd work well, as i could personalise them for each kid, etc.
ho hum. This is how I spend my saturday evenings now, apparently.
.
I have literally hundreds of ~150mm rectangled pieces of clear perspex plastic I'm trying to use up. This *could've* been perfect, grr.
- I say 'borthday' because I was born a Geordie.Nairn
- Maybe a flatpack zoo where the legs fit into slots on the bodies? You could do trees and stuff with it.
Or a tinkertoy style set with shapes and connectorsscarabin - Or an edgelit nightlight? https://litb-cgis.ri…scarabin
- ha, i made a modified perspex thing for my brother-in-law who got one of those edge-lit things for christmas :)Nairn
- Problem wit that is, I'd need to buy the light bit, and I'm going the DIY route here as the budget for this party's gone through the fucking roof already...Nairn
- Stencil sets could be funscarabin
- I like the animal flat-pack idea - that's got... legs.
Thanks, Scarabin!Nairn - Ooh, fuck - yeah. a simple-ass stencil would work, wouldn't it? Huh, how stupidly obvious, for someone who makes x stencils per week for other people...!Nairn
- If i were a kid i’d want shurikens or “future swords” but that’s probably a no go for safety reasonsscarabin
- Gotta say, I'm having lots of fun doodling spirographs here. They were a toy I always wanted as a kid, along with Mr Frosty Ice maker thing, lolNairn
- Lol!scarabin
- Not loving another "rant" but your intentions are so pure
spirographs are so fucking must for any fucking chilhood wtf 4 yos are basically adults these days******** - Don't know if it counts, but having access to spirographs early, influenced my choice of being a designer later on so yeah
go for it********
